October 14, 2012- 14 Months

Okay, so this has probably been the longest since I have gone without writing in this blog.  It has almost been 2 months.  I honestly don't even remember much about September, except for Cameron just continuing to improve his walking skills.  The last weekend in September we went to Blooms and Berries Farm in Loveland, Ohio so Cameron could pick out his first pumpkin.  We had a lot of fun there.  We went on a hayride and Cameron picked out his pumpkin, then we took pictures in a field of Sunflowers, then we looked at some animals at the petting zoo, and Cameron just ran around.  We had so much fun there and can't wait to go back next year.

October has been a crazy month so far, starting with October 1st.  My Mom called me about 3pm on Monday October 1st when I am at work.  I finally call her back around 3:15 and she tells me that Cameron is broken out in hives all over and he is coughing a little bit.  I asked her if he had anything new and she said that my dad (not knowing) gave Cameron a bite of a peanut butter cracker at noon.  I immediately call the pediatrician and talk to the nurse and she tells me to have my mom give him a dose of Benadryl and take him to the Emergency Room since it was coughing and didn't want any other respiratory problems to happen.  We meet them at the ER and Cameron was still coughing a little bit but not too much, he was calm and seemed comfortable.  I was a wreck.  We got back to a room and they checked him out and said his lungs sounded good and they said they would monitor him for an hour.  We ended up being there for probably over 2 hours, because they had some sort of glich in their system.  The doctor prescribed Cameron an Epi Pen and referred us on to see an Allergist to confirm his peanut allergy along with anything else.

The next morning I got up early before Cameron to take a shower, because I had an appointment to take my car to the dealership to get the transmission checked out before we headed to Gatlinburg on Wednesday.  I got up felt great and once Cameron woke up I just bent over his crib and my back just went out.  I was in immediate pain and unable to stand straight up.  I painfully picked Cameron up out of his crib, changed his diaper, and set him down and he had to walk out to his high chair.  I lifted him up in his high chair and tried to feed him breakfast, but he wasn't having it.  He for some reason wasn't in the mood to eat.  I sat down on the couch and called Jason and told him I needed help and see if he could come home while I went to the doctor where I work.  He was luckily able to leave work and help me out.  I left and went to the doctor and called my mom to see if she could help me out that day.  The physician assistant said I strained a muscle in my low back and prescribed me some muscle relaxers and ibuprofen and told me to take it easy and stretch.  I was in 9-10 pain that day, I was actually in more pain than childbirth, because the epidural was amazing and I was definately wish I had one on that day.  When I returned home my mom was there and was taking care of Cameron while I just sat on some ice.  She got Cameron down for a nap and went to get my prescriptions and lunch.  I then took a nap and tried to relax.  If it weren't for Jason and my mom I don't know what I would have done that day.  It was horrible.

Wednesday I woke up still not feeling well and not able to stand up straight.  It was awful.  I managed to get myself packed and everything us packed and together with many many breaks and my poor husband had to load everything up into the car, which took him probably a couple of hours.  We ended up getting on the road about 1:20pm, which I thought was pretty good.  Cameron did awesome in the car and fell asleep as soon as we got on the road and slept for 3 hours.  We made it to Gatlinburg and checked into the cabin and headed to dinner.  We were in Gatlinburg Wednesday through Saturday and my back progressively got better each day.  By Friday I could stand up straight and didn't have any muscle spasms just had some fatigue.  We had a great time and it was nice to get away for a little bit.

Tuesday, October 9th, I took Cameron to the allergist and he had 26+ scratches on his back.  It came back that he was allergic to peanuts and dogs.  So now we just have to watch everything that Cameron eats especially out of the house at restaurants.  It came back that he wasn't allergic to tree nuts, but I am going to avoid all nuts, because of them being processed in the same manufacturers and cross contamination.  We also knew that he was allergic to dogs, but its just the saliva, because he is fine with Carson and the rest of the family dogs, unless they lick him, then he just gets little bumps right where they lick him.  So now we carrie an Epi Pen wherever we go and make sure we always have Benadryl on hand as well.  He has to follow up with the allergist in 1-2 years depending on if he is having any other problems or not.  So I just hope and pray that we don't ever have to use the Epi Pens and he never breaks out in hives like that ever again.  It was scary.

Since then everything has been back to normal for the most part.  My back is feeling better just sore and stiff somedays.  Cameron is a wild man.  He is now atleast 20 pounds.  He is still just long and lean, but is growing and eating like crazy.  He loves chicken nuggets, hot dogs, bananas, spaghetti, fettucini alfredo, vegetable crackers, and yogurt.  He is a pretty good eater when he wants to be.  He is also expanding his little vocabulary.  He is now saying "Hey", "All Done", "Hot Dog", "Carson", and continues to say "Dad" and refuses to say "Mom".  Although if we ask him where the TV, floor, table, Mom, Dad, Carson, fan, couch, and Cameron he will point to whatever we say.  So he is getting smarter every day.  Everytime I look at him I can't help but smile and I usually laugh.  He just cracks me up.  He is though starting to test us and gets in trouble when he doesn't mind.  He also is now smiles when we ask him to, gives us a kiss when we ask him.  He loves to take laundry out of the dryer.  He typically only takes one nap a day and if we are really busy and doesn't take a nap he sleeps almost 12 hours at night.  We are down to one bottle just at night and still working on drinking milk out of the sippy cup.  Yesterday he drank 8 ounces of milk throughout the day and then today he probably only had 2 ounces of milk.  I would like it to be a little more consistant.  He has become attached to his pacifier and goes through times where he wants it all the times.  Most of the time he only has it when he is about to go to sleep.  So we will probably work on getting rid of that soon.  He now has 10 teeth.  His two 1st year molars on the bottom are in and the two top ones will be in soon.  He has been very active this month and has made so many changes.  I just can't believe he is already 14 months old.  Its crazy.  Well, I think that is all and I will do my best not to make it this long until next post.  Enjoy the pictures!

14 Months!

August 28, 2012

Wow, so much has happened since the last post.  Our little man is now One!!!  I can't believe it, I don't feel old enough to have a one year old, but I love watching him grow and develop every single day.  I feel like we have had a lot of firsts the last couple of weeks.  These are his first since the last time I posted anything.  On 7/25/12 he stood up by his self for about 8 seconds after letting go of our hands.  On 8/4/12 Cameron pooped in the bathtub for the first time, I couldn't believe it.  Let's hope that doesn't happen very often.  On 8/9/12 Cameron took 5-6 steps on his own.  We are still working on walking. We can leave him standing up by himself and sometimes he will take the 5-6 steps to walk to us, or he just smiles and laughs and sits down.  He is just being a booger and when he decides he wants to walk he will.  On 8/18/12 he clapped his hands for the first time.  We took a walk as a family and Cameron was in his stroller and I looked down and his was just clapping his hands on his own.  So now we ask him to clap his hands and he does, or we sing the song "If Your Happy and You Know It" and he claps.  One more first that he just started doing yesterday was actually standing up in the middle of the room all by his self without pulling up on anything.  He did it for a couple of times for my parents when they watched him yesterday and a few times for us when he got home last night.  So I have a feeling it will be anytime now where he puts it all together and just starts walking on his own.  One of his last things that Cameron will ever do is he breastfed for the last time on Sunday 8/26/12.  Its kindof sad for me, but over a year ago I would not have imagined that I would have enjoyed or even lasted an entire year of breastfeeding.  It was an amazing gift that I was able to do it.  It has been a little bitter sweet so far.  I miss that extra contact with him, but it is also nice to have my boobs back to myself.  Haha.  Those are all of Cameron's firsts that he has done .

We had a wonderful day for Cameron's first birthday party.  We had it on Saturday August 11th and were joined by all of our family and close friends.  The weather was perfect.  Cameron had a good day and mostly hung out with his Pap and Papaw that day.  It was great having our families and friends their to celebrate his first year of life and hope to have many more great parties.  Cameron ate some cake, but he was pretty clean about it.  He picked at the icing and ate it and everytime he put some in his mouth he made the "Mmmmmmm" sound.  I am not sure if it had anything to do with the cake or not, but Cameron was up for 3 hours in the middle of the night Saturday night.  He didn't go back to sleep until about 6am and we ended up having to wake him up at 8:30 to get him going so we could go to the Zoo with Jason's family.  I wasn't exactly sure how he would do, but he absolutely had a blast.  He wanted Cecil to hold him the majority of the time and he stayed awake until 2:30 and then crashed for about an hour or so until we woke him up at Montgomery Inn.  We all had a great weekend and it was just good to be with family.

Cameron spent his real birthday with Grammy and Pap (my parents) on their boat and had a great day playing and just having fun.  The following day he had his One Year check up with the doctor.  The doctor said he looked great.  He weighed in at 19 pounds 10 ounces, 28 3/8 inches long, and his head was 18 inches around.  The doctor said he looked great and the only concern I had was that since I had started giving him whole milk he was using the bathroom a lot, sometimes up to 8 times a day.  This was also causing him to have a really bad diaper rash.  The doctor said to try him on 2% Milk and Since then his bowel movements have decreased quite a bit averaging 1-3 times a day now and his diaper rash looks much better now.  We are continuing to work on trying new "Real" food.  One thing that he absolutely loves is grean beans and watermelon.  He its those all by himself, but we are still working on other things as well.  So we are still eating stage 3 baby food and mixing in real people food when we can.  Another new thing that he just started last week was actually drinking the 2% milk cold out of a sippy cup.  Its not much, maybe an ounce or 2 a day sometimes, but before he wanted nothing to do with it cold.  So I am happy with that.  So we are continuing to work on real people food and drinking cold milk out of a sippy cup so we can get rid of the morning and evening bottles.

Cameron's sleeping routine has got a lot better.  He typically sleeps through the night now.  He usually goes to sleep between 9:30 and 10 and sleeps til atleast 8am.  We still have sometimes where he wakes up in the middle of the night and I have to lay on the couch for a little bit for him to fall back to sleep.  I haven't figured out on those nights what causes him to wake up.  But I am hoping that happens less and less.  Cameron also usually takes one nap a day and lasts atleast 1 1/2 hours up to 3 hours which is rare.  He may sneek a 30 minute second nap in if its in the car between places.

Cameron is a very happy boy and just loves to play with his cars, balls, puzzles, and books.  He also loves to be outside and on his Smart-Trike or ride toys that he got for his birthday.  He is still really only saying "Dadadadadada."  But if you ask him where something is he usually points to it.

I think that is everything that Cameron is up to these days.  He is a very busy, happy little boy and we just love him so much.  We look forward to watching him grow and develop, but he can take his time, because I love him at this age.  Until next time, enjoy the pictures! July 5, 2012 and July 21, 2012

I think I am doing better, it has only been a month since my last posting.  Cameron is a busy little man these days.  He is still crawling everywhere and pulling up on everything and standing up.  He is into everything.  He absolutely loves playing with his balls and basically that is all he plays with.  He just picks them up and throws them and then chases after them.  He sometimes gets in these moods where he picks a ball up in both hands and gets them as high as he can and when he throws them at the same time he screams as loud as he can.  It is pretty funny.  He still loves to say Dada, and pretty much refuses to say mom.  I think he is doing it on purpose.  Another new thing that he likes to do is put both hands above his head when we say "Big Boy!"  He still loves to play with his big brother Carson.  One new thing that he has been doing a little over a week now is he is able to pick up his Puffs and feed himself.  We had been working on it, but he finally figured it out.

July 21,2012

So I started this blog on the 5th and got interrupted by Cameron waking up from his nap, so I am just not getting around to finishing this up, because he is napping again and I am in Ironton and have nothing else to do right now but this.  So since the 5th Cameron is doing all the same things listed above.  He is still cruising around all our furniture.  He sometimes forgets what he is doing and actually lets go of what he is holding onto and stands by himself for a couple of seconds.  Another crazy thing that he has been doing is he likes to lick any appliance, (dishwasher, fridge, oven door, and sometimes even the floor).  I haven't figured out if he sees his reflection and thinks he is kissing himself or what, but I try to tell him no and he just laughs at me and goes back to doing it.  He is a little goofy.  About a week ago I blew up a balloon thinking he would love to play with it since he loves ball so much, but he was very afraid of it, but I kept showing it to him daily and just last Thursday he actually started playing with it, and likes it a lot.  He has been sleeping through the night like a good boy and Mommy appreciates that very much, he is even eating pretty good too.  Although he goes through phases where he eats good and then he doesn't.  We are trying our best to introduce him to real food as much as we can.  I know last week we went out to dinner and eat ate quite a bit of my fettucini alfredo.  He is getting to be such a big boy and I can't believe in just 3 weeks we will be celebrating his first birthday.  I can't believe it's already been a year.  I am going to try and load some pictures from my camera on here, so I hope you enjoy!  Hopefully it won't be so long until the next post.

June 2, 2012 91/2 Months

Wow!!!  Its been awhile since I posted.  Life is Crazy, but Good!  Cameron is now 9 1/2 months old and is into everything.  He started crawling 3 days before we left for Myrtle Beach, so that would have been May 2nd.  He is now pulling up on everything he can and starting to cruise a little.  Two days ago I took him to get his Nine month pictures and he was holding onto a stool and ended up pushing the stool and walking behind it across the entire room.  I definately think he will be walking by his first birthday, which doesn't need to be here anytime soon.  We went o Cameron's Nine Month appointment on May 22nd.  He is a healthy boy.  He is now 28 inches long and only 17 pounds 12 ounces.  He is in the 70th percentile in height and only in the 20th in weight.  The doctor wasn't concerned though.  She said that happens when they start to be so active.  The doctor said he looked great though.  Also, a big change since we have been back from Myrtle Beach, is our little guy doing a much better job at sleeping through the night.  I don't want to jinx myself, but he is a lot better.  He cries out a couple times a night sometimes, but he goes back to sleep by himself.  That means I get my much needed sleep too.  Cameron is doing a lot these days, he is able to say "Dada, Momma, and Bubba."  He is able to wave Bye-Bye, he loves to crawl, pull up on things, he has also figured out his walker and can fly on that, he loves his Bubby Carson and loves to crawl all over him, he loves his Popaw Shafer and Pappy Mike, and loves to be outside.  Cameron also now has 7 teeth.  He is a busy busy boy, which makes me a busy busy mommy, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.  In the previous post there are pictures from our Myrtle Beach vacation.  I hope you enjoy those and hopefully I can update you later on this month.  It is so hard to find time to just sit down on the computer.  Enjoy!!!

April 19, 2012- 8 Months 6 days

Since the last posting Cameron has turned 8 months old, and I took a bunch a pictures over the weekend, so I wanted to share.  Some new things that he is doing since then is he likes to make a growling sound.  It is pretty funny.  He also has been doing a lot better at night.  I think he slept through the night 4 nights in a row and then the past 2 nights just had to get readjusted in his bed and went right back to sleep.  So I think he is feeling better.  Let just hope he continues to get better and continues to sleep through the night.    Another developement is he has gone from being on his belly and has pushed himself back up to a sitting position.  My mom also found him sitting up in his crib after he had been taking a nap.  So I guess it is probably time to lower the crib down a notch.  I am not ready for him to be so big already.  Oh well.  Enjoy the pictures.

April 10, 2012- 7 Months 28 Days

Wow, I think last post I said I was going to post more often.  I missed the entire month of March.  This is crazy.  Well, Cameron is growing like a weed and I can't believe he is going to be 8 months on Friday.  I am definately not ready for him to be 8 months old yet.  He is a busy little bee these days.  He doesn't like to sit still a whole lot not.  He is always doing something.  He loves to sit and play with his toys on the floor and also loves to lay on his belly and scoot around and push himself backwards.  He will be crawling before we know it.  He is able to get up on his hands and knees and sometimes his hands and feet but just falls, but he will probably figure it out very soon.  I guess that means I need to start babyproofing very soon.  Cameron now has 3 teeth now.  His top left middle tooth cam in on April 2nd.  When nursing he sometimes thinks its funny to bite me, so I have to be very stern with him and tell him NO and he usually stops.  Other things he likes to do is make all kinds of noise he can get pretty loud.  He loves his Big Brother Carson and thinks he is really funny.  A very new developement and he is starting to act more and more like is father is just last week he has started to play with himself whenever I change his diaper.  Also within the last week he has been sticking out his tongue a lot.  He is a crazy little boy and is usually a good little boy.  Although the past 2 months or so we have been battling some nasal congestion.  I took him to see the doctor last week and she gave him some allergy medicine which hasn't helped so today she put him on an antibiotic.  I am hoping it clears things up so he is able to breath clearly through the night and sleep through the night.  So everyone keep your fingers crossed that this medicine clears things up for him.  What else....Cameron loves his swim lessons we have had to miss two classes due to being out of town, but when we do go he is very content to be in the water.  He still hasn't figured out blowing bubbles yet and kicking his legs is very inconsistent, but he will figure it out.  He also loves to be outside, so whenever it is nice outside we try to go outside for a walk or just sit in the grass and play.  Last week when I took him to the doctor Cameron weighed 16 pounds 13 ounces.  I can't think of any other updates at the moment.  We will be heading to Myrtle Beach on May 5th, so we are all very excited to take Cameron on his first trip to the beach.  I will hopefully update you all sooner than later.  I hope you all enjoy some of the pictures.
