Friday October 28, 2011

Alright, I know I have been slacking and haven't posted anything for over a week and a half and I know Selba you are checking on here daily, so I am very sorry.  I find it hard sometimes to even get downstairs to log on to my computer to do this.  The only time I am downstairs is to do laundry real quick.  I still can't believe how busy I am at home.

Right now Cameron is sleeping, but I think he has already woke up out of his nap twice already.  He can be such a booger sometimes.  He is doing better with his little schedule and has been going down for his naps a little better and not crying to much before he goes to sleep.  He is still doing awesome at night and usually goes to sleep between 10 and 11pm and wakes up anywhere between 8 and 8:30am.  I can't ask for anything better than that right now.  Cameron will be 11 weeks old tomorrow.  I can't believe he is already that old, which means I have to go back to work a week from Monday.  I am not really looking forward to it.  I am going t o miss my little guy those 2 days.

Cameron is getting more and more active.  He still loves his little gym and he can pretty much move every body part and laugh and smile all at the same time when he is on there.  He cracks me up.  He does a really good job of following you with his eyes and head if you walk across the room.  He can hold his head up really good too.  He is such a good little guy.  I love him so much.  He is quickly outgrowing his 3 month clothes and I have started to put some away that are already to small.  He also had his first size 2 diaper on yesterday.  The ones still fit him too, but we have some size 2 in stock so I just wen ahead and put that on him instead of buying more size 1's.  He is getting so big.

Jason took Cameron downstairs last night so they could watch the World Series together and Jason was also reading to him.  I could hear Cameron from upstairs laughing.  I came downstairs and Jason was reading a pop-up book to him and he was actually just looking at the pictures and was laughing out loud.  He really just puts a smile on my face all the time.

Well, that is it for now.  I haven't downloaded pictures yet from this past week, but I will hopefully tomorrow.  Enjoy and until next time.

Tuesday October 18, 2011

I can't believe Cameron is 9 weeks old already.  That means I have to go back to work in three weeks.  Not looking forward to it but blessed it will only be two days a week.  Cameron had his 2 month check up last Friday.  He weighed in at 12 pounds 1.5 ounces and 23 5/8 inches long.  I can't believe how fast he is growing.  Everything checked out at the doctors and he is as heathly as good be except for some dry skin.  The doctor recommended to try some Eucerin Cream for night and lotion for the day.  He also got all of his shots.  He was not a happy camper.  He got a shot in each leg and then a oral vaccine which he didn't mind.  It didn't take him too long to calm down though after getting his shots.  Friday night he was really good and slept the entire time while we were out to dinner, but when we got home he was definately not feeling good.  He had a low grade fever from his vaccines, but I gave him some tylenol and it made him feel better and he slept through the night.  He has been sleeping through the night now since the 7th.  He is such a good baby.

Saturday my parents stopped by along with my Grandma Goodwin.  My mom had bought the Eucerin cream and lotion for him.  So we got him all lathered up.  I applied it to him another time before he went to bed.  Sunday morning Cameron's forehead and eyelids were redish pink, his cheeks were blotchy with red spots along with his legs, and his stomach and chest were red as well.  As the day went on his stomach and chest got alot worse.  By evening he was really fussy and kindof acted like his skin was actually hurting him.  We gave him a bath and got him rinsed off really good.  I ended up calling the 24 hour nurse on call at our Pediatrician, because I wasn't sure if we should put something else on his skin since he was so dry.  She said to not put anything on him and just put him in loose fitting clothes and call the doctor the next day.

Monday I called and the doctor we saw on Friday wasn't in, but his skin was looking a lot better already, just really dry.  I talked to a different nurse and she said to give it another day and then today try using Aquaphor since we had used that before just in a small area to make sure he doesn't get irritated from that.

Today I am running a little experiment on him after doing some research online with  which lotions and creams are best for babies with dry skin.  I have the Aquaphor, Aveeno Excema lotion, and Cetaphil.  I just used a small amount on three different areas to see which one works best for him.  I just want to know what works best so we don't have a repeat of what happened over the weekend.  I will let you know the results.

Cameron is an awesome baby.  He is more and more responsive everyday.  He smiles a lot now.  He still pees and poops alot.  He is also sucking more and more on his hands.  We were at the grocery yesterday and I looked down and he had his middle two fingers in is mouth and is pinky and pointer finger stinking out.  It was pretty funny and I wish I could have gotten a picture of it.  He is also a scooter when he is in bed.  He stays flat on his back and he likes to wiggle back and forth and then kick with his legs and he scoots himself around in his crib.  I have found him multiple times veritcally in his crib.  He usually ends up scooting himself into his mirror in the crib and then he gets made.  He did do that at 3:30am this morning and I had to get him and move him back to the center of the crib and he stayed alseep.

Well, here are a few pictures from the past week.  Enjoy!

Monday October 10, 2011

My little man is now 8 weeks old.  I can't believe how big he is already and just all the little things he is doing.  Since I last posted anything we have now implemented a schedule for him, because Thursday night was the worst night since Cameron has been born.  From 5pm to almost 1am he was eating every hour, and by then end of it all, I don't think I had any milk left.  I laid him down at 12:45am, he was back up at 2am, laid him down by 2:30am, then back up at 4:30am, back down by 5am, back up at 7am, down by 7:30am, and back up at 9am.  He just kept crying and screaming.  I was emotionally and physically exhausted.  I just couldn't do another night like that.  I felt like a horrible mother, because I couldn't figure out what was wrong with him.  Since Friday afternoon we started a schedule using the Babywise method.  There is a book called Babywise that I read back in March that I forgot about until one of Jason's co-workers mentioned it to him.  Basically the concept is to get them on a schedule by waking them up in the morning at the same time and then you feed them, have awake time, and then naptime and for his age it should be on a 2 1/2- 3 1/2 hour cycles.  Since then he has been doing pretty good and has slept through the night.  One thing that had to realize this weekend is that we just can't do everything in one day.  This past weekend was the Sauerkraut festival back in my hometown and I really wanted to get there to see some friends that I haven't seen in awhile and to show off my little man.  We also wanted to get the boat out both days this weekend since it was supposed to be so nice both days.  The plan was to go to the festival Saturday by noon and then take the boat out afterwards.  Well, Jason and I had a little bit of miscommunication.  I wanted to be at the festival by noon and he thought I wanted to leave by noon.  So he spent a little extra time at the gym and we ended up not leaving until 12:10pm.  Then there was an accident on 71 northbound so we took a different way which took longer and didn't even get to Lebanon until 1:30ish.  So we decided to go ahead and pick the boat up and then we headed to my parents house.  At this point we still weren't sure if were going to go to the festival and make it boating or not.  I had to feed Cameron at the house and then we finally decided to just take the boat out and then I would take Cameron to the festival Sunday morning while Jason did some things in the morning.  We got  the boat in the water around 3pm and we had a really good time.  It felt good to be on the water and just relax a little.  Cameron enjoyed it.  We had  to be creative though in keeping the sun off of his sensitive skin since he can't wear sunscreen until he is 6 months old.  I had him in his carseat underneath the dashboard on the boat and then sometimes I would hang a towel from the dashboard over him or on the windshield of the boat.  It all worked out and we all had a great time, even Carson got to go and swim too.

Sunday our plan was for me to go to the festival in the morning and then get back to the house by noon the latest to feed Cameron and get him down for a nap and then Jason would meet me there and we would take the boat back out.  Once Jason got there Cameron wasn't due to wake up from his nap until 2:30pm and then he would have to eat again.  We decided it was too late to get the boat back out, because we both wanted to get home earlier then 8pm like the night before.  So we just put the cover on the boat and took it to my dad's store and went home.  We are hoping we have another beautiful weekend like last so we can get it out one more time.  We are definately looking forward to next summer so we can use it quite a bit.  I also forgot to mention that Jason gave Cameron his first bottle tonight.  It definately made me a little sad, but we need to do it to make sure he will be okay once I go back to work.  He took the bottle just fine and ate the 4 ounces and then still acted a little hungry afterwards so I got to feed him then.  Now we just need to figure out what the appropriate amount to give him when we do give him a bottle.  Hopefully the pediatrician can help answer that question for us.

We definately had a busy weekend, but we also learned a lot as parents on what we can and can't do with an infant.  Everyday is a learning experience, but I wouldn't have my life any other way right now.  I love being a mom and wife and I am trying to be the best at both.  Well, enjoy the pictures from the past weekend.  Cameron goes to the pediatrician on Friday, but hopefully I will have more updates on his schedule between now and then.  Enjoy!

Thursday October 6, 2011

It has been another busy week since I last posted anything.  Last Thursday Mom, Cameron, and I went shopping and Mom spoiled Cameron and bought him a bunch of clothes.  I look forward for him to wear all of them.  After a long day of shopping my friend Kristen then came over to see Cameron, but he unfortunately was a little cranky and hungry, hopefully it didn't scare Kristen from having babies in the future.  Haha!

Shopping with Mom and Grandma

Friday after Jason got off work we headed to Ironton to visit with his family.  Cameron is an awesome traveler.  He slept the entire time in the car and still slept through the night that evening.

Saturday we went over to the mall and Cameron slept the entire time there and while we went out to dinner that evening.  After dinner we headed over to Jason's Momaw and Popaw's house.  Cameron was hungry so I fed him, and then he got a belly ache and ended up spitting up all over himself, Jason, and me.  It was crazy there for awhile.  We returned back to the house and he ended up sleeping through the night again.

Hanging Out With Great Popaw!

Sunday morning I think I got up with Cameron around 5AM and he ended up peeing all over himself and spitting up all over me after feeding him.  He ended up getting a bath that morning after making messes all over the place.  After we all got ourselves cleaned up we headed back home and relaxed a little bit.

Monday was a crazy day.  He slept through the night, but I am not sure if he had an upset stomach or what, but he was awake all day and he was just not a happy baby most of the day.  I wasn't able to get much done that day and was exhausted by the end of the day.  Fortunately he slept through the night Monday night.

Tuesday he was such a good boy.  We headed to Lebanon to go to lunch with my parents and he slept while we were at lunch, then we went to see my two cousins while my mom got her hair cut.  He slept the entire time we were there and then we came home.  We were home for a couple of hours then headed out to dinner for my dad's birthday dinner.  He slept the entire time while we there and then he finally woke up when we got home.  I didn't think he was going to sleep that night, but I think I got him to sleep by around 11 or so and he slept through the night.

Wednesday we didn't do a whole lot except we went over to a friend's house who has a baby that is 6 exactly 6 weeks younger than Cameron.  We went and hung out there for a bit and walked about 2 miles around their neighborhood.  It was nice to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather and exercise a little.  We came home and relaxed the rest of the afternoon and evening with Daddy.  Cameron has started to release his hands out of a fist more and more and he actually started to really suck on his hands Tuesday, but when we laid him down to go to bed and got ourselves in bed he was sucking on his hands so loud we could hear him in our bed with out the monitor.  He was pretty funny.

Unfortunately Cameron didn't sleep through the night last night.  He had slept 6 days in a row through the night and last night he broke the record.  He was laid down around 11pm,  woke up at 3am and I couldn't get him to go back down and sleep until 4:40am.  He was then awake again at 7am and 9am.  I have been up ever since and he has been up and down all day.  I have been trying to get things picked up around the house a little and we did have a little photo shoot today with Carson and Cameron.

First time in my Bumbo
This weekend it is supposed to be beautiful so our plan is to get the boat out on the water and enjoy it before it gets cold outside.  We also plan to go to the Sauerkraut festival this weekend so I can catch up with some friends and they can see my little man.  I hope you all enjoy the pictures from the past week. He is getting to be such a big boy and it already makes me sad how fast he is growing.  He is really smiling, laughing, and talking quite a bit now and is most of the time such a happy baby.  I love him so much.  I also forgot to mention that Cameron has also been pooping out of his diapers.  I believe on Tuesday morning he pooped out of his diaper and I swear the poop was up to his shoulders.  He ended up getting a bath after that and then he did the same thing when we got home from being in Lebanon.  He almost had to get a second bath.  I think since then he has been good, but they are definately nasty to clean up.  Well, enjoy the pictures.  Until next time.
