I can't believe Cameron is 9 weeks old already. That means I have to go back to work in three weeks. Not looking forward to it but blessed it will only be two days a week. Cameron had his 2 month check up last Friday. He weighed in at 12 pounds 1.5 ounces and 23 5/8 inches long. I can't believe how fast he is growing. Everything checked out at the doctors and he is as heathly as good be except for some dry skin. The doctor recommended to try some Eucerin Cream for night and lotion for the day. He also got all of his shots. He was not a happy camper. He got a shot in each leg and then a oral vaccine which he didn't mind. It didn't take him too long to calm down though after getting his shots. Friday night he was really good and slept the entire time while we were out to dinner, but when we got home he was definately not feeling good. He had a low grade fever from his vaccines, but I gave him some tylenol and it made him feel better and he slept through the night. He has been sleeping through the night now since the 7th. He is such a good baby.
Saturday my parents stopped by along with my Grandma Goodwin. My mom had bought the Eucerin cream and lotion for him. So we got him all lathered up. I applied it to him another time before he went to bed. Sunday morning Cameron's forehead and eyelids were redish pink, his cheeks were blotchy with red spots along with his legs, and his stomach and chest were red as well. As the day went on his stomach and chest got alot worse. By evening he was really fussy and kindof acted like his skin was actually hurting him. We gave him a bath and got him rinsed off really good. I ended up calling the 24 hour nurse on call at our Pediatrician, because I wasn't sure if we should put something else on his skin since he was so dry. She said to not put anything on him and just put him in loose fitting clothes and call the doctor the next day.
Monday I called and the doctor we saw on Friday wasn't in, but his skin was looking a lot better already, just really dry. I talked to a different nurse and she said to give it another day and then today try using Aquaphor since we had used that before just in a small area to make sure he doesn't get irritated from that.
Today I am running a little experiment on him after doing some research online with which lotions and creams are best for babies with dry skin. I have the Aquaphor, Aveeno Excema lotion, and Cetaphil. I just used a small amount on three different areas to see which one works best for him. I just want to know what works best so we don't have a repeat of what happened over the weekend. I will let you know the results.
Cameron is an awesome baby. He is more and more responsive everyday. He smiles a lot now. He still pees and poops alot. He is also sucking more and more on his hands. We were at the grocery yesterday and I looked down and he had his middle two fingers in is mouth and is pinky and pointer finger stinking out. It was pretty funny and I wish I could have gotten a picture of it. He is also a scooter when he is in bed. He stays flat on his back and he likes to wiggle back and forth and then kick with his legs and he scoots himself around in his crib. I have found him multiple times veritcally in his crib. He usually ends up scooting himself into his mirror in the crib and then he gets made. He did do that at 3:30am this morning and I had to get him and move him back to the center of the crib and he stayed alseep.
Well, here are a few pictures from the past week. Enjoy!
