January 7, 2012

It has been a crazy month since I last posted anything.  I was not quite prepared for Christmas this year like I usually am.  I didn't start shopping until a week and a half before Christmas.  My time flies when I am busy with Cameron.  I did manage to get all of my Christmas shopping and wrapping complete 2 days before Christmas.  I got the house decorated as well.  On December 20th Cameron went to the pediatrician for his 4 month check up.  He checked out okay and weighed in at 14 pounds 3 ounces and 26 inches long.  Cameron absolutely loved to play on the table paper.  He just laid there and played and crinkled the paper.  Hopefully the video below works.

Saturday, Christmas Eve, we went to my cousin's house to celebrate Christmas with my moms entire side of her family.  There was probably about 40 people there.  Cameron was a little cranky there.  I think it was just too loud for him, so he got upset.  So we ended up leaving a little early so we came home and relaxed.  Christmas morning we woke up and got in the shower before Cameron woke up around 8am.  I fed him and then pumped then we were ready to open presents.  Carson pretty much opened everyone's presents, but he definately helped Cameron with his.  Carson was very excited to open presents and Cameron just liked the paper.  Once we were finished we got loaded up in the car and headed to my parent's house.  We arrived at 10:30 and ate Mom's delicious egg casserole.  Then we opened presents.  Afterwards we had time to relax a little bit and get the trash out.  I think Cameron went down for a little nap and then my Aunt, Uncle, and Grandma arrived around 1:30ish.  We had appetizers while waiting on my cousin and his family to arrive.  We opened gifts again and then ate my grandma's wonderful swiss steak for dinner around 5.  Along with the swiss steak we had mashed potatoes, green beans, and crescent rolls.  Along with apple cobbler and peanut butter pie.  It was all delicious and our bellys were full.  We started heading home I think around 7ish.  Cameron was a pretty good little boy all day, but he only took 30 minute naps here and there.  It was good to be home and just relax a little.  We thought Cameron would really sleep good that night just from all the activity.  Boy were we wrong.  That night he was pretty much up every hour and at 5am he woke up screaming like he had never done before.  He acted like he was in pain.  I picked him up and was bouncing him trying to console him and he pooped and instantly stopped crying.  He went right back to sleep and ended up sleeping until atleast 8am.  For the most part the rest of the day he was good, maybe a little fussy.  Later on at about 6:30pm he woke up at of a nap screaming again.  This time it took longer to get him to calm down.  He acted like his belly was hurting him.  Once we got him calmed down he was fine again.  That night I think he slept better and then the next morning he woke up out of a nap at 10:30am screaming again.  This time it took even longer to get him calmed down and he had his legs drawn up.  I was really worried about him, so I ended up taking him to the Pediatrician.  When we got there he was as happy as could be.  The doctor checked him and said everything looked good, but intussuseption was on his radar.  This is when the intestines folds inside the other and can cause blockage.  Basically the doctor said to watch him and call him if it happens again.  He was good the rest of the day thru Thursday and then Thursday evening he was up all night every hour drawing his legs up and crying.  So we ended up taking him back to the doctor again.  The doctor said he looked good again, he weighed 14 pounds 7 ounces.  She said if it was intusseseption he would have gotten worse and not better those couple of days, but she said if we wanted to get an ultrasound for peace of mind she would write a script.  After talking with the doctor for atleast 30 minutes we felt comfortable that wasn't the problem and it was either gas or just him changing.
We headed to Ironton that afternoon to spend the New Year's weekend with them and also to celebrate Christmas with them.  He didn't sleep the greatest at night while we were there, but overall he was a good baby.  Cameron went to church for the first time while we were there on January 1, 2012.  He was so good.  He stayed upstairs with us and was good the whole time and took a bottle and was awesome.  We came home later on that afternoon.  Cameron slept the whole way home and I even got about an hour and a half nap in the car too.  I was trying to catch up on my sleep from the past several nights being up with him every hour or so.

This past week Cameron I think has definately been starting to feel better.  He is sleeping a little better through the night, but he has been so good during the day.  I don't want to jinx myself, but he has been taking better naps during the day and he has been a lot less fussy.  He has hit a lot of milestones this past week and month.  December 2nd he rolled from his back to his belly in his crib.  I think he does this when he drops his pacifier so he rolls over to try and get it back in his mouth, but then he just gets mad.  On January 1st he went to Church for the first time like I said above, he also held a bottle by himself.  January 2nd Cameron had his first taste of rice cereal and applesauce.  He has been eating it since and does a pretty good job with it.  On Thursday January 5th Cameron rolled from his belly to back several times and is getting better and better at it.  He also is able to be on his belly a lot longer now without getting mad.  I think this morning he spent 20 minutes there.  He is getting to be such a big boy.  We love him very much and are so blessed to have him in our lives.  I will try my best but will probably update once a month now unless anything exciting changes.  I hope you enjoy the pictures and I am going to try and figure out how to download video from our video camera so you can all see him rolling over as well.  Enjoy!!!
