Tuesday August 30, 2011: 17 Days Old

Sorry its been so long since I have posted something.  This past week has been a crazy week on top of just having a newborn around the house.  Last week my computer monitor stopped working, so it was pretty much cheaper to get a new computer than to fix the old one which was five years old.  So Sunday we went and got a new computer and its taken me until today to get things downloaded onto from my old computer and just get adjusted.  Last Saturday Jason's Mom, Dad, and Momaw came up to visit and we went out to lunch for the first time with Cameron.  He was a perfect angel and slept the entire time.  He is so good.  Jason thinks its a reflection of his dad, but I think its more because of his mommy.  Yesterday Jason and I bought a boat.  We are very excited and can't wait to get it on the water.  We are going to get Cameron started out right.  He is already a water lover though.  He also got his first bath in the sink last night and absolutely loved it.  He didn't cry or fuss one bit.  He was wide awake the whole time.  (See pictures below)  Today while Jason was working in one of our condos all day Cameron and I made our first trip to Lebanon to visit with some of my family.  He made his first of many trips to Grandpa Mike's tire store, he met a close family friend Peggy there, then we went out to lunch at Frisch's, and he pretty much slept the whole time.  Then we went to the hair salon so I could get my haircut.  My two cousins Erin and Korey got to see him there.  He was good there except for my mom had to change his diaper there.  Next stop was Great Grandma Hick's house.  It was ready to eat when we got there which was about 3:15pm.  I fed him and probably changed his diaper 2-3 times there.  My Aunt Brenda and Uncle Larry stopped by to see him along with my cousin Stef and her son Ian.  After visiting there we then made our final stop at Great Grandma Goodwin's house.  She just got home from her cruise and being in New York for 4 days because of Hurricane Irene. She was thrilled we had stopped by.  Cameron used the bathroom 2 more times there and ate as well.  I think he has used the bathroom every hour since about 2:30 today.  There is definately nothing wrong with his bowels.  Well, Hopefully it won't be as long the next time I write something.  We will be making our first trip to Ironton this weekend, so hopefully everything goes well.  Cameron will also be making his first trip to Montgomery Inn Thursday night for Uncle Scott's birthday.  We are trying to break this kid in right.  I hope you all enjoy the pictures.

Wednesday August 24, 2011

The past two days have been a little interesting.  Cameron has decided to change his schedule up again on me.  Last night I was all prepared for Cameron to do his cluster feeding, like he had been doing the past two nights.  He was pretty much eating on the hour from 6-10pm.  So I wasready and prepared for that last night, and then he decided to fall asleep after his 6:30 feeding and then slept til almost 10pm.  Then instead of eating and then going right back to sleep at his 2 or 3am feeding he decided to stay awake for 2 hours last night between 1:45am-3am.  So I was definately exhausted this morning.

Yesterday, we went for our first walk as a family.  Cameron was in his stroller and Jason had Carson.  We walked down to the end of the cul-de-sac and then half of the next block and back.  Cameron fell asleep on the walk and Carson just enjoyed being outside.  It felt good for me as well to get out and walk around.  I also did a lot of nursing and changing diapers.

Today after laying back down unti about 9:30am I hopped in the shower before Cameron woke up.  I am happy to say that since we have been home I have gotten a shower before noon everyday.  I never thought that would happen when I was pregnant.  Cameron woke up about 10:30 and had peed and pooped a little through his diaper.  So I got his diaper changed and wiped down a little and just left him in his diaper and wrapped him up in a towel, so I could give him a bath afterwards.  He was really good during the sponge bath and acutally enjoyed it.  Once I got him dressed and as soon as I zipped up his outfit he instantly pooped in his nice clean diaper.  So I had to undress him and put a clean diaper on him.  About an hour later my friend Angie stopped by and hung for over an hour.  It was great to see her and just hang out for a little.  Its always good to see good friends.  Once Ang left it was time for Cameron to eat and then take another nap.  While Cameron was napping I was going to work on getting pictures sent to Meijer and get printed and all of a sudden my laptime where I have all of my pictures downloaded on the screen went blank.  So at this point I can't access anything on my computer.  So there may not be any pictures posted for awhile, unless I mess around on Jason's computer and get them downloaded there.  Hopefully, its a cheap fix to get my computer fix. A new little thing Cameron is doing is that I will give him a bunch of little kisses on his mouth and he just opens his mouth up as big as he can get it.  It is so cute.  I love him so much.  Well,  right now my little man is sleeping, so I am going to try and relax until he decides to wake up.  Hopefully I can get some pics posted soon.  My little man is awake now.  Got to go!

Monday August 22, 2011

Today was my first day at home all by myself.  The first half of the day I was little uneasy, because Cameron wasn't eating like he had been.  His last good feeding was at 10:20pm Sunday evening.  I woke up at 4 and changed his wet and dirty diaper and he only ate for 2 minutes.  I then woke him up about 5 something and he only ate for 4 minutes.  He then slept to about 10:30ish and ate a little bit then.  I was just uneasy about the whole thing, so I talked with Jason's mom a couple of times and then I finally called the lactation consultant around noon.  She said that he was probably going through a growth spurt, some babies eat a lot and some sleep alot.  He also was doing what they call cluster feeding last night when he was eating on the hour from 6-10pm last night as well.  She said it should only last 24 hours and he just needs to have 8 feedings a day, 6 wet diapers, and 2-3 dirty diapers.  After about 12:30 or so he definately woke up more and made up for his lack of eating for the morning.  Also, today I got peed and pooped on.  I was changing his wet diaper and he started to pee all over himself, so I thought that was done so I was in transition from getting the dirty diaper out from underneath him and getting the clean diaper and he started to poop onto the waterproof changing pad cover.  Thank God for that!!!  I just flipped the end up and just let him continue pooping until he was done.  Once he was done I just stood there hanging on to Cameron's ankles keeping his feet out of the poo and thought about what I was going to do to get myself out of this messy situation.  I finally gathered my thoughts and got him cleaned up and everything else cleaned up.  It was pretty sightly.  Jason got to see the dirty changing pad cover in the sick when he got home.  He thought I should just throw it away.  I told him we would be throwing a lot of things away if we through  everything away that he pooped on.  I got it rinsed off and in the washer.  It cleaned up very nicely and you would never know.  I wouldn't change any of this for the world though.  I am so happy to finally have Cameron here and we are both learning daily.  He is amazing and I love being a mommy.  We also went on a little walk today in the stroller and Carson got to go with us.  We walked down to the end of the culdesac and back to the house.  It felt good to get outside for a little bit and Cameron fell asleep.  Carson also enjoyed the walk.  So after the afternoon it went well once my concerns were addressed after talking with the lactation consultant.  I will post some pictures later.  Enjoy!!!

Saturday August 20, 2011- 1 Week Old

Today was another busy day, we went boat shopping.  We just went and looked at a few boats and Cameron slept the whole time.  He is just ready to go wakeboarding.  Haha.  After coming home from looking at boats Cameron ate and played underneath his little gym.  He absolutely loves that thing and usually will lay under it for 20-30 minutes just looking at all the things on it.  Thanks Great Momaw Selba!!!  Then we took a little power nap.  After that my parents came over and hung out for a little bit.  I am also pleased to announce that Cameron wore the same outfit all day yesterday without peeing outside of his diaper and he hasn't peed outside his diaper again today.  I think its helped since he lost his umbilical cord yesterday morning and his little penis is less swollen and actually lays down flat.  It is also not as red as it was.  So we are happy about that.  Here are a few pictures from today and a video of him underneath his little gym.  Enjoy!!!

Friday August 19, 2011

First and most important thing of all, Cameron's ultrasound results came back normal, so there is nothing to be concerned about.  We are all just very happy and thankful.  Once we got the results back this morning we have just been taking it easy.  Momaw Rita left us at 11ish this morning and we all want to thank her very much, she has been so much help to all of us and has been great support in teaching us things we may have not thought about.  I don't know how we will ever repay you.  Cameron has been an eating machine the first half of this afternoon pretty much eating every hour.  At this moment he is finally sleeping and not eating.  I actually get a little break.  Today has been nice and relaxing so far.

Thursday August 18, 2011

Yesterday was another busy day.  We had to take Cameron to Children's Hospital to get an ultrasound performed on his spine, because he has a sacral dimple located right above his rectum.  Our pediatrician thought it was closed, but her partner that saw him in the hospital was unsure, so we wanted to get it done for peace of mind.  So we had to be there at 1pm, and Cameron was a perfect little angel.  He slept through the entire thing, which only lasted 15 minutes or so, but he had to lay on his stomach and he was perfect.  He is a perfect little angel and we couldn't ask for a better baby.  Once we got home he was definately ready to eat.  I am not exactly sure what happened after that, besides eating dinner and Cameron slept on Momaw Rita's chest from about 8-10:30 while I took a nap at the same time.  I wasn't expecting to sleep that long, but I guess I was tired.  I stayed up with Cameron until about 12:20am, then we slept until about 3:30.  I got up and changed and fed him, and then he slept until about 7:30.  He is awesome and we are truely blessed to have him in our lives.  Here are a few pictures from yesterday.

Hanging Out in My Swing!

Wednesday August 17, 2011

Today we had a pediatrician appointment at 9am, setup by Jason, I was worried we were not going to make it on time, but we arrived about 10 minutes early so we could fill out the paperwork.  After I was done with the paperwork, Mr. Cameron thought it was time to eat again, so we went back into the room so he could eat.  The pediatrician appointment went really well, and he had already gained back his weight.  I don't remember if I wrote that in the hospital on Sunday he weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces and then was back to 7 pounds 15 ounces at his doctors appointment.  Cameron was very good at his appointment and stayed calm.  He did go through 3 diapers and the only 3 diapers that we had brought with us while we were there.  He peed while the resident was checking him out. Everything checked out good and we don't have to return for a month.  The rest of the day just consisted of peeing, pooping, sleeping, and a little bit of play time.  Mommy and Daddy doing a lot of changing diapers and outfits.  Momaw Rita doing a lot of laundry, cooking, and cleaning.  Tremendous Help!!!  Enjoy the pics!

My Sweet Angel

So Precious!

Tuesday August 16, 2011

I don't remember much, except that my boobs were as hard as rocks.  My milk had definately came in and Cameron was having a difficult time latching on.  That afternoon, Jason's mom watched Cameron while Jason and I went to Babies R Us to get a hand held breast pump and some nursing bras.  We also went to two other places, and by the time we got back and only being gone an hour I was pretty worn out and thought I was feeling pretty good before that, but that showed my I wasn't quite ready to be out and about too long.  Cameron is such a good baby and only cries when he is wet and usually has peed on himself.  At this point Cameron usually has to be changed into a different outfit atleast 4 or 5 times a day, because the pee escapes his diaper and gets his onesie, sleeper, and blanket wet.  Rita has been doing a lot of laundry for us and has made things easy for us.  Enjoy these pics from Tuesday.

Monday August 15, 2011

I don't remember a whole lot from this day unless I were to look at his feeding, pooping, and peeing schedule which is upstairs right now.  I do remember though that about noon time I was changing his diaper and Jason may have gone to get a wet washcloth and Cameron decided to shoot a rocket at me.  Poop squirted out at me lock a rocket, but luckily just landed on the changing pad and not on me.  Once Jason got back he then decided to pee straight up into the air and over top of his head.  I got my hand over it quickly to stop it from probably hitting the wall.  When he started to pee Jason said "WHAT IS THAT!?!?!?!?!?"  He thought it was poop.  Once Cameron was done, I just started to crack up laughing, because it was crazy for about 1 minute.  We got him all cleaned up and then Jason's mom walked in the door.  We told her she was about 5 minutes late.  He was pretty funny, but he was breaking us in early.  Monday we were still figuring out the breastfeeding thing and getting the hang of it, and by that evening my milk had started to come in and kindof messed things up a little, because Cameron was having a harder time latching on, but we got it all figured out.

Sunday August 14, 2011

Sunday was another busy day at the hospital, at 1am or so Jason and I were up feeding Cameron and he probably ate for 10-15minutes and at 1:30 I called the nurse to come get him so they could do his 24 hour testing.  The nurse came and did his hearing test which he past and did very well with along with pricking his heal.  The nurse then kept him in the testing room for an additional 30 minutes so we could get some sleep.  I remember coming back in the room about 2:30ish and telling me about his tests, but I had to ask her the next morning, because I was pretty out of it.  My friend Kristen came to visit Cameron for a little bit.  She got to see first hand what it was like to have a 1 day old baby.  She got to see me breastfeed and she tried not to look, but I told her after having a baby you lose all modisty.  I thought I would care if people saw me breastfeed, but I don't care if its close friends and family.  Sunday afternoon around 1:30 Cameron got his Circumcision done.  He did really well and didn't cry too much.  He also got his first Hepatitis B vaccine right before his circumcision.  We were then released to go home about 5pm that evening.  I was definately ready to go home and feeling pretty good.  We got home with him and first introduced him to his Big Brother Carson.  Carson was very nervous and just uncomfortable not only around Cameron but his skin was all irritated so he didn't want anything to do with Cameron.  We then got to rest for a little bit before my parents came over to cook us a steak on the grill, baked potatoes, and salad.  It was a good meal and an exhausting day.

Cameron's First Ride!

Saturday August 13th, 2011

Okay, so its a little harder than I thought to keep up to date on this thing with a now 6 day old.  Haha!  So I will try my best to remember everything that has happened since then.

Saturday, August 13th, after giving birth at 1:22am, everyone got to see him and then I think everyone left the latest around 2:30 I think.  While everyone was visiting I finally got to eat a turkey sandwich, jello, cheese, and drink lots and lots of water and apple juice.  I was starving and can remember my belly actually growling during the rest times of when I was pushing.  The turkey sandwich may sound odd to some of you to eat directly after giving birth, but that was one thing I have been looking forward to eating all summer was a nice cold turkey sandwich.  I couldn't eat that, because lunchmeat carries a bacteria called Lysteria that is not safe to eat.  Once I got to eat and everyone left I then breastfed Cameron for the first time and it went great and he ate for about 25 minutes.  He then got his first bath given by the nurse, then we got transferred to our room about 4am, then we finally got to go to sleep by 4:30.  When we woke up, I don't remember a whole lot about that day besides a pediatrician being in there once, we had one bad nurse there for 8hours that was awful, saw the lactation consultant, and then we had visitors in and out all day.
