Monday August 22, 2011

Today was my first day at home all by myself.  The first half of the day I was little uneasy, because Cameron wasn't eating like he had been.  His last good feeding was at 10:20pm Sunday evening.  I woke up at 4 and changed his wet and dirty diaper and he only ate for 2 minutes.  I then woke him up about 5 something and he only ate for 4 minutes.  He then slept to about 10:30ish and ate a little bit then.  I was just uneasy about the whole thing, so I talked with Jason's mom a couple of times and then I finally called the lactation consultant around noon.  She said that he was probably going through a growth spurt, some babies eat a lot and some sleep alot.  He also was doing what they call cluster feeding last night when he was eating on the hour from 6-10pm last night as well.  She said it should only last 24 hours and he just needs to have 8 feedings a day, 6 wet diapers, and 2-3 dirty diapers.  After about 12:30 or so he definately woke up more and made up for his lack of eating for the morning.  Also, today I got peed and pooped on.  I was changing his wet diaper and he started to pee all over himself, so I thought that was done so I was in transition from getting the dirty diaper out from underneath him and getting the clean diaper and he started to poop onto the waterproof changing pad cover.  Thank God for that!!!  I just flipped the end up and just let him continue pooping until he was done.  Once he was done I just stood there hanging on to Cameron's ankles keeping his feet out of the poo and thought about what I was going to do to get myself out of this messy situation.  I finally gathered my thoughts and got him cleaned up and everything else cleaned up.  It was pretty sightly.  Jason got to see the dirty changing pad cover in the sick when he got home.  He thought I should just throw it away.  I told him we would be throwing a lot of things away if we through  everything away that he pooped on.  I got it rinsed off and in the washer.  It cleaned up very nicely and you would never know.  I wouldn't change any of this for the world though.  I am so happy to finally have Cameron here and we are both learning daily.  He is amazing and I love being a mommy.  We also went on a little walk today in the stroller and Carson got to go with us.  We walked down to the end of the culdesac and back to the house.  It felt good to get outside for a little bit and Cameron fell asleep.  Carson also enjoyed the walk.  So after the afternoon it went well once my concerns were addressed after talking with the lactation consultant.  I will post some pictures later.  Enjoy!!!
